Frequently Asked Questions

+ What’s included in your paediatric first aid training?

Our courses cover infant and child CPR as well as some of the most common emergency situations that involve children, including choking, burns, drowning, fractures, bleeding, allergies (e.g. anaphylaxis) and poisoning. You will learn the first aid skills needed to manage these situations, we will answer any questions you may have, and there will be plenty of time for practice too!

+ Can I bring my baby?

Yes, babies under 12 months are more than welcome, and we welcome breastfeeding during our sessions too. For parents with active toddlers, we suggest booking separate dates if necessary so that you can get the most out of our interactive and informative sessions.

+ Do you do accredited first aid training too?

Yes, Emergcare provides accredited training courses on behalf of and in partnership with National First Aid RTO 3981. Please contact us via the form above for more information and to make a booking. Our paediatric first aid training courses are not accredited.

+ What's the difference between Perinatal First Aid and your Paediatric First Aid course?

Perinatal First Aid is delivered in partnership with the Centre of Perinatal Excellence (COPE) and is specifically designed for new and expectant parents. This program combines paediatric first aid training (including CPR and how to manage common child first aid scenarios) with education and evidence-based resources to support the emotional wellbeing of both mums and dads throughout pregnancy and early parenthood too. Our Paediatric First Aid course includes learning CPR and how to manage common child first aid scenarios and is suitable for parents, carers, grandparents, and anyone involved in the care of young children.

+ Is there an exam? Should I take notes?

No, there is no exam for any of our courses and no need to take notes – unless of course, you want to!

+ Do your courses include CPR?

Yes. You will learn how to perform effective CPR on a newborn baby and child as a part of our courses.

+ How do I book in with you?

To view Paediatric First Aid course dates held at the Royal Children’s Hospital (Melbourne), please click here. To book in for one of the above dates or enquire about private group sessions, please contact us via our enquiry form.

+ What is the minimum/maximum number of people that can book a private session?

We require a minimum of 10 people to book a private group session. There is no maximum number as long as everyone fits comfortably into your venue, remembering that you will need some space to practice your new skills. All first aid training sessions will be dependent on current Covid-19 restrictions. Please contact us about your specific needs via our enquiry form.
